Needs more character development (especially the mum) and power development (like ice and other powers but also the classes. It's got a Push' vibe to it. I like it. Too many characters and ideas but not enough time to develop and actions scenes/use of powers was underwhelming. I liked the way the set it up at the beginning it really showed you that these guys are struggling hella hard. It also showed the fear people had for the supes and the general discrimination and general mistreatment if the supes. (For instance the police detained and sent home all the power enabled folks at the construction sight without really confirming if they really were using their powers) I think the movie went down hill once conner teamed with Garret and Co. It turned into your average heist movie. Tho Instead of people using gadgets and tools to do their crimes they use super powers. On the topic of super powers the showcases of the powers didn't do anything to wow me at all. The most impressive show case was Conner shorting the drone once they left the bank. The build up and delivery was decent. But later on in the movie when he spent much more time building up energy to short the truck with the psyke in it he shot a single strand of electricity at the truck and it just stopped moving. Supposedly conner needed 10 times the energy to short that truck but all that happened was a little zap. The movie tells you conner is the only electric strong enough to do this but it doesn't deliver on that premise. I wanted to see more of what garret and conner did where he would float light bulbs and conner would send energy through them. I could see maybe conner needs to generate a constant source of electricity and garret needs to use his TK and complete a circuit. Power usage like that would have been interesting. Freddie being mute added nothing to his character. All he did was ask for bacon, call conner an asshole, and die. I feel like officer parker was the most complex character in the movie. Having an enabled daughter while mot being enabled himself and working in a job that clearly is discriminatory towards enabled people. I would really love to watch a series about his internal struggle. The ending was lame. Conners mom dying made everything pointless. Tbh no character was really developed enough nor complex enough for me to care about them dying other than officer parker. I didn't give 2 shits about Nia. She didn't have any screen time or a lot of back story. It would have been interesting for them to expand on the whole when people find out I'm a healer they only value me for that thing. Also I wish they would have told us that she received the injuries that she healed before she healed conner. It would have made that moment more meaningful.
